how selling your data works
- Take stock. What do you have, and for how many years? Email, QuickBooks, job files, service tickets, drawings, recorded calls, shop notes.
- Post it. Go to post an ad and choose data for sale. Describe the kind of records, the years covered,
roughly how much, and your industry. You don't need to upload anything.
- Talk to buyers. Buyers reply by email. Share a small redacted sample, sign an NDA, and agree on price and terms.
- Clean it up. Remove personal information before delivery. You can do it yourself or hire someone from redaction services.
- Deliver and get paid. Deliver the cleaned data the way your agreement says, and collect payment.
what buyers tend to want
- Records of real work start to finish: the request, the back-and-forth, and the finished result.
- Many years of history from one business.
- Specialized fields: accounting, labs, chemistry, engineering, semiconductors, legal, medical billing, trades.
- Data that's organized and already de-identified.
